1. What is a Naturopath?

This is one of the most common frequently asked questions we get. A Naturopath is a qualified health practitioner who uses evidence-based natural medicine to address the root causes of health issues. Naturopaths take a holistic approach, considering the whole person—body, mind, and lifestyle—to support long-term wellness.

2. What conditions can a Naturopath help with?

Naturopaths can support a wide range of acute and chronic health concerns, including digestive issues, hormonal imbalances, fatigue, immune problems, children’s health, fertility, mental health, skin conditions, metabolic and cardiovascular health, autoimmune disorders, and more. See our Services page for a full list.

3. What happens at my first appointment?

Your initial consultation at Bayshore Naturopathic Clinic involves a detailed discussion of your health history, current symptoms, diet, lifestyle, and any medications or supplements you’re taking. We may also perform in-house assessments (like iridology, live blood analysis or bioimpedance testing) and recommend functional testing if needed. You’ll leave Bayshore with a personalised treatment plan.

4. How long is a consultation?

Initial consultations are generally 60 minutes. Follow-up appointments are typically 30 to 45 minutes, depending on your needs and treatment plan.

5. Do I need to bring anything to my appointment?

If you have recent blood tests, medical reports, or a list of medications/supplements you’re taking, please bring them with you or send them ahead of time. This helps us get a full picture of your health.

6. Do Naturopaths work with medical doctors?

Yes. At Bayshore Naturopathic Clinic, we’re happy to work alongside your GP or specialist as part of your healthcare team. We believe in integrative care and will refer or collaborate as needed.

7. Are the supplements you recommend available in your clinic?

Yes. We have an in-house dispensary stocked with high-quality, practitioner-only supplements. Or if preferred, products can  be mailed out directly to patients or ordered online through a secure portal.

8. Are your treatments safe for children, pregnancy or while breastfeeding?

Absolutely. We provide tailored, gentle and safe treatment plans for preconception, pregnancy, postnatal care and children of all ages. We take care to ensure everything we recommend is appropriate for your life stage.

9. How many consultations will I need?

This varies depending on your individual case. Some people notice improvements within a few weeks; others may need ongoing support for chronic or complex issues. Your Naturopath will outline an estimated treatment timeline after your initial consultation.

10. Do you offer online or telehealth consultations?

Yes. We offer both in-person and telehealth consultations to suit your location and lifestyle. Supplements can be delivered to your door.

11. Is testing included in the consultation fee?

In most cases in-clinic testing is included in the consultation fee.  Functional pathology testing involves additional costs, which will be discussed upfront before proceeding.

12. What’s the difference between Naturopathy and conventional medicine?

Conventional medicine often focuses on diagnosing and treating symptoms, often using pharmaceuticals. Naturopathy focuses on understanding and addressing the underlying cause, using natural treatments to support the body’s healing processes. The two can work together effectively.
